Free SEO Tools
Here you will find a selection of free SEO Tools designed to help you understand and improve your own web site's ranking.
IMPORTANT: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not a trick and there are no shortcuts. But if you use these free SEO tools correctly, you are putting yourself in a much better position to be recognized in high regard by the major SEs.
Over the years the major search engines (SE) have developed very complex algorithms to counter the cheaters so be warned: if you try to cheat, chances are the reverse will happen - you will get your site blacklisted.
So if you are going to invest the time and energies into doing what it takes to get your web site ranked highly, do it the right way with these free SEO tools.
This set of free SEO Tools will help you better understand what the search engines are looking for and how you can better improve your chances of getting noticed by following their guidelines.
So let's get started. There are primarily two criteria that a major SE will look for when it analyzes your website:
1. Keyword Density
How many times does the intended keyword appear on the web page and does it appear in the correct places for the SE to establish a favorable value.
2. Inbound Authority Links
How many other web sites are linking to your web pages and are those other web sites already of high ranking i.e. of high authority.
Let's first discuss Keyword Density:
A well optimized web page will have the keyword appear as follows:
1. In the URL - either the domain name or in the page name i.e. www.keyword.com or www.yourdomain.com/keyword.html
You can use a keyword phrase for a domain name or page name. For instance, here is my hobby website:
www.rc-hobby-universe.com/electric-rc-speedboats.html
Where the homepage keyword phrase is "rc hobby" and the page name is "electric rc speedboats". Do a search in Google for "electric rc speedboats" and you'll see that this really does work.
2. In the Page Title - this tells the SE what the page is about.
3. In the Meta Keywords - although some debate whether SEs look at this field since it has been abused too much with keyword stuffing, it is still highly recommended to fill in correctly with the appropriate primary page keyword and some secondary keywords that also appear on the page.
4. In the Meta Description - this is what the SEs look at to confirm what the page is about after already having seen it in the above areas. If it's not here, then the SEs may not think the page is relevant.
5. In the Headline - sounds obvious since this is the first thing your visitors will read when they come to your page. It's also a good idea for the Headline to be in a larger point size to confirm it's importance.
6. In the Text Copy of the Page - the general rule says that your primary keyword or keyword phrase should appear about in 5% of the copy.
7. Text Link - this is one that many people leave out. You need to put your keyword in a hyperlink that leaves your page. I know it sounds wrong to send someone away from your page but what this is telling the SEs is that you are actually offering to your visitor the opportunity to read more important information that you do not have on your web page but that is relevant to your topic.
If the hyperlink is sending a visitor to another website, you can safeguard losing them by making the hyperlink open in a new window. Just make sure you put "target=new" in the hyperlink code after the url.
So the first thing I want you to do is download the new
Firefox 2.0 Web Browser
and when you're done with this then download the
SEO for Firefox extension.
Then, restart Firefox and make it your new web browser. You will no longer need or want to use Explorer (sorry...just say goodbye to it).
These free SEO tools are two very important, powerful features that you now have. The first is tabbed browsing (yes, I know the new IE has it but Firefox invented it) and, you now have the SE search feature that you can activate by clicking on the "SE" that appears in the lower right corner.
This will now provide you with a wealth of data every time you do a search. Try it now and see for yourself!
What you are doing is "scraping for data" so please only keep it on when you are actively researching a market.
To confirm that it is installed go to:
